Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum

The museum is open daily from 9am to 4pm, EAST, except Xmas Day, Boxing Day, Anzac Day and Good Friday, with a large collection of naval and maritime memorabilia: a full size La Balsas raft which succesfully completed a trans Pacific voyage from South America, and many other interesting displays.  Admission by donation

Tweed River Historical Society

The Tweed River Historical Society Museum is located in the original Tweed Shire City Hall, and has many interesting displays of local history and development of the valley.  It opens Wednesday and Friday each week from 11 am to 3 pm, or by arrangement. Clubs, special interest and school groups are welcome.  Nominal admission

Minjungbal Aboriginal Centre

Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre

A NSW NPWS Historic Site, the Centre has a fine museum, and a shop offering aboriginal art, crafts and souvenirs. A mangrove boardwalk and walking track winds through the site, to an amphi-theatre.  Free use of picnic facilities with electric barbecues and free admission to the shop.   Indigenous officers offer guided interpretive tours to visitors through the museum and site, its relics, flora and fauna, making it an ideal school outing or special interest group visit.  $15 per adult, $7.50 concession includes tour guide for museum and site.
