To reach Tweed River Houseboats:
From the south
If you want to avoid the Burringbar Range (which the new motorway bypasses)
continue straight along the Pacific Freeway - DON'T take the Tweed
Valley Way*.
Follow the freeway towards Tweed Heads/Brisbane until you reach the
signposted Murwillumbah exit at the Oak Avenue interchange (Melaleuca
Station tourist attraction is on your left), and double back along
the Tweed Valley Way to Murwillumbah. This is the old Pacific Highway,
and the scenery is magnificient.
From the north
Via the Gold Coast or Brisbane, take the exit for Murwillumbah and the
Tweed Valley Way, at the signposted Oak Avenue interchange, just
south of Chinderah and the heavy vehicle inspection station. DON'T
continue on the Pacific Freeway or you'll end up in Brunswick Heads!
The
drive along the Tweed Valley Way (old Pacific
Highway) is outstanding. A great way to acquaint yourself with
the river.

has been renamed as the Tweed Valley Way. |
